What it involves
A multi-tenant architecture isolates tenants — their data and functional behaviour — on a shared codebase. The design is API-first. Asynchronous, message-queue processing decouples critical operations: payments, webhooks and background jobs. Idempotency and concurrency management prevent duplicate effects.
Resilience is designed up front: failure modes are identified, retries controlled, and the data model aligned with use cases.
